Lu (Lucille) Bonot
2011 - 2021
On the afternoon of August 6, 2021, I had to say goodbye to my beautiful girl, Lucille, after a brief but hard fought battle with a very aggressive cancer that was diagnosed in December of 2020.
Lucille, aka Lu, came home when she was 4 or 5 years old after being used as a puppy mill breeding pup in a town in Missouri, USA, for those first several years of her life. Because of these horrible beginnings it was not known exactly when she was born but it was estimated that she was born sometime in 2011. This 10 pound wonder showed up and turned my world upside down in the best possible ways.
Little Miss Lu arrived as a scared timid little bundle who learned to not only live life, but loved life with a spirit that was enviable. From adapting to a new home and life to the seemingly endless appointments to deal with her cancer, she was an inspiration in the way she took everything in stride all the way through her life. One would never have known by looking at her that she was sick. She was the embodiment of resilience.
Sadly, despite her incredible will to live, her time was cut far too short. Her absence is felt each and every day. She was the great love of my life and made every day worthwhile. Although there is great comfort in knowing her struggle is over, there will not be a day that goes by where she won’t be terribly missed.
I will love you forever, my sweet little girl. You are in my heart until we meet again.
