Preparing For Life Without Your Pet

Truthfully, you will likely never be fully prepared to face the loss of your beloved pet. After all, they are family members. You can expect to feel grief but may not realize the extent of it until that day arrives. Sometimes we don’t realize just how large a role our pets play in our lives until they are gone. Planning, as we would for any other family member, can help ease some unnecessary burdens that might weigh on our hearts and minds during this difficult time.

Here are some helpful suggestions to think about when planning:

  • Learn About The Stages Of Grief

You may experience a range of emotions during the various stages of mourning, even anger and denial. Being prepared and aware can help prepare you for the emotional turmoil to come. Grieving for a pet can be very similar to grieving for any other loved one and for some it is more difficult.

  • Talk To Your Children

If you have children, they will be affected by the death of your pet as well. It is best to have an open, age-appropriate conversation with them. Gently let them know what is happening with their pet and be prepared for any questions. Preparing children will also give them a chance to say goodbye.

  • Take Photo's

Although you might already have many pictures of your pet, take a few more during the remaining time you have together.

  • Memorial Keepsakes

After your pet has crossed over, as an extra service provided by Peaceful Pasture Pet Cremation, we offer Ink Paw Prints as a complimentary service and Clay Paw Prints for $15.00. We also offer to take a fur clipping at no additional charge.

  • Making Arrangements

One of the most common questions is: Burial or cremation? At Peaceful Pasture, we offer Aquamation, which is our environmentally alternative to traditional flame cremation.

    Other questions to consider:

Would you like your pet's remains returned? Would you like an urn? Will you be scattering the remains in a special place that you and your pet enjoyed?

  • Talk To Your Veterinarian Or Contact Us

Your veterinarian can help answer some of these questions, or you can always contact us at Peaceful Pasture Pet Cremation directly and we can answer any questions that you might have regarding after care for your pet.
