Princess

They say you get the dog that is meant for you. Even when you think you’re choosing the dog, the truth is, the dog chooses you.
This was especially the case with Princess. There is much to be said about little dogs and if there’s one thing any of us can agree on its that they seem to be the strongest and mightiest of them all, this was ALSO the case with Princess.

Early on she ran with the ‘big dogs’ and she often shocked everyone by how brave and resilient she was. Princess faced difficulties in her life the way we all hope we can, with courage and tenacity. When she lost her eye, she didnt miss a step. She still stood her ground when the cats tried to sniff her dish and she still ran around her favorite park with her cousins Bruno bear and Dazee doodle like a bat out of hell. Like a true canadian dog, she enjoyed the winter. Her most favourite thing to do was make snow angels, she would make us all laugh, but you always heard the most joyful chuckle from her Mom.
Princess had a wardrobe bigger than almost every human in her family. From dresses, to overalls to vests and her favourite bowties, Princess was the epitome of her name. She had a stroller, a raincoat, an umbrella and her own tent.

Princess favourite time was dinner time! She got fresh chicken, fresh beef, even her own filet mignon! She often ate better than her human family. Ha!
From the very first night, Princess made it known she would have a spot on the bed. Every single morning she would wake Mom by bouncing on the bed beside Mom’s head. When she spotted her brother Braxton her body would wiggle out of control and she always had lots of kisses for him. Her favourite visitors were her sister Destiny and her family. She loved being held by auntie Madison and chasing uncle Andy’s big feet.

Princess loved air conditioned long rides to hunt for fishing spots, to the dog beach where she could wear her bikini and to see the city and make all the drivers who pulled up next to us ‘ooh’ and ‘ahhh’ at her. She had fans wherever she went.

She loved laying next to her Mom during bingo and would fight you for bologna.

She was the strongest dog we’ve ever known, each of us is better for having her in our lives to love us and to love her right back. I’ve never seen a dog love her human as much as Princess loved Mom.

On Princess’ last day, she woke up and climbed onto Mom and nuzzled into her neck to fall back asleep. She had breakfast with us, we napped and during her favourite thing to do, a long drive, Princess passed in her Mom’s arms as Mom sang to her and told her to look for Grandpa.
We are comforted knowing Grandpa can take care of the dog he loved so much, until we meet again.

Princess, you are and always will be a huge piece of our hearts and lives. Thank you for choosing us.
We will miss you forever, we will love you forever.
